A Ham Radio Tale From Another World
An AI tale created by Gemini just for fun. Hope you like it 😁

The Martian wind howled, a mournful symphony of dust and despair. Inside his battered rover, Mark huddled closer to the crackling ham radio, his breath misting the cold viewport. "CQ CQ CQ, this is Mars Rover One, calling any station, any station... over."
Static hissed back, a cruel mimicry of his own loneliness. Days had passed since the solar flare had crippled his navigation systems, leaving him adrift on this desolate plateau. His emergency rations dwindled, his hope dwindling faster.
"CQ CQ CQ, Mars Rover One, calling any station, any station... over." He repeated the call, his voice hoarse.
Suddenly, a faint signal pierced the static. "Mars Rover One, this is Kilo Lima Bravo, Kilo Lima Bravo, come in loud and clear, over."
A wave of disbelief washed over Mark. "Kilo Lima Bravo, this is Mars Rover One, I'm lost, navigation systems offline, running low on supplies, over."
"Mars Rover One, Kilo Lima Bravo understands. What is your current position? Over."
Mark fumbled for his last GPS reading, his fingers numb with cold. "Last known coordinates... 23.5 North, 137.8 West, over."
"Mars Rover One, Kilo Lima Bravo received. We are relaying your position to Ares IV base. Stand by, over."
Hope surged through Mark like a jolt of electricity. He clutched the radio tighter, his eyes fixed on the swirling dust outside. "Kilo Lima Bravo, thank you, thank you... over."
Hours crawled by. The wind continued its mournful dirge, but now it carried a hint of anticipation. Finally, a new signal crackled through the static. "Mars Rover One, this is Ares IV base, we have located you. A rescue vehicle is en route. ETA approximately six hours, over."
Tears welled up in Mark's eyes. He had faced the abyss of Martian solitude, only to be pulled back from the brink by the invisible thread of radio waves. As he waited for rescue, he knew that the human spirit, like a persistent signal, could always find a way to connect, even in the most desolate corners of the universe.

Ham Radio Adventure Continues into 2025 👽🛸📡
Hope you all had a fantastic festive break and your new year has begun well. I can't wait to work more DX and generate some RF across the ham Radio bands again this year. We have now reached the peak of solar cycle 25 so you can expect another great year of fabulous propagation before things slow down. Last year was awesome especially on 10m. My favorite DX was made on AM 29Mhz with Hawaii and Calgary both with 50 watts. I also made some amazing 10m contacts into Iran, Pakistan, South Korea and China. The DX station log count climbed considerably without the need for the amp. The highest power used in HF throughout the year was barefoot 200 Watt from the FT101mp. As for the SAT bands I ran the usual 30 watts from the FT-847.

I can't believe it is 2025, when I was a kid this date was in the comics which were SciFi futuristic fantasy.
I guess I have been around quite a while lol. It's 21 years of holding a ham license and 10 years of M0YKS, how time flies.
Have you seen the new video on a fairly new Sat? MO-122... Well it's doing well and proving to be popular. Well worth trying!

Well that's all for now, as you can see we have a good downfall of snow ❄️ here on the Pennine hill tops. I will be active on HF and SAT bands as well as local stuff. Give me a call if you hear me. In the meantime I shall hopefully catch you later 73 Happy New Year!
